This course features the most common mental disorders in children in the United States, based on professional literature and empirical studies. In addition to the prevalence of mental disorders in children, this course underscores the onset, causes, symptoms, diagnostic criteria, co-occurring disorders, treatment interventions and prevention. Definitions, descriptions, criteria for diagnosing mental disorders, are based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
